Moscow warns of “serious consequences” as tensions escalate in Middle East
June 22, 2025 | Washington, D.C

Russia has strongly condemned the recent US military strikes targeting nuclear facilities in Iran, calling the actions a “reckless provocation” that could lead to a wider regional conflict.
In an official statement, the Kremlin accused the United States of violating international norms and endangering an already fragile situation in the Middle East.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the attacks are a “threat to global security” and called on Washington to immediately stop its “aggressive actions.”
“Targeting nuclear infrastructure is an act of war that cannot be answered,” Lavrov said during an emergency press conference in Moscow.
The U.S. hasn’t responded yet to Russia’s warning. However, Pentagon officials previously stated that the strikes were “preemptive measures” aimed at stopping Iran from getting closer to a weapons-grade uranium threshold.
